A country of unimaginable diversity. The 'Big 5' roam its savannah plains and its forests shelter around half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas at a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The mighty Nile runs through its heart and pumps its waters through a seven metre gap at Murchison Falls National Park. Lions climb into trees on the golden savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park and chimpanzees roam in a sunken rainforest gorge. Explorers can hike the snow-capped peaks of The Mountains of the Moon and Elders exhibit the rock-art of their ancestors on the arid savannah plains of Karamoja. Visit the statuesque Shoebill in its RAMSAR wetlands and the green-breasted pitta in Kibale National Park. Take to the skies with a scenic flight or to the white-water in East Africa’s adventure capital, Jinja. After hiking in the Kigezi Highlands in the foothills of the Virunga volcanoes, relax with a postcard panorama of Lake Mutanda.
